Manny Scott is one of the original "Freedom Writers" whose story is told in the Hollywood movie Freedom Writers, starring two-time Academy Award® winner Hillary Swank and Grey’s Anatomy’s Patrick Dempsey. Manuel Scott has devoted his life to equipping others with proven tools to succeed. With a tireless, selfless dedication, he enlightens, empowers, and revitalizes others with life-changing messages.

At the age of fourteen, Manuel dropped out of school, and began to fulfill his teacher’s awful prediction that he would either be dead or in jail by the age of eighteen. His use of drugs and alcohol eventually led to his involvement in criminal activities. He says, “When I look back, I now see that I was heading down a path that would have destroyed me.”

However, due to an amazing transformation, Manuel has defied all the odds stacked against him. “I was once dismissed as ‘unreachable’ and ‘unteachable,’ and classified as an ‘English as a Second Language’ student,” says Scott, “but something special happened, and I love sharing that message with others.” The once high school drop-out now holds a degree from the University of California at Berkeley, and a graduate degree from Trinity International University.

Scott now speaks at Universities, colleges, civic organizations, high and middle schools, retreats, seminars, and religious institutions. He has received several awards for his commitment to transforming lives. He has appeared on “The View” with Barbara Walters and on “Nightline.” In 2005, he delivered the Walters and on “Nightline.” In 2005, he delivered the keynote address for the Lions Clubs International Convention in Hong Kong, and inspired a coliseum of twelve thousand delegates from 192 countries with a message of hope. “I do not share my story to impress people,” Scott explains,” but to impress upon them some invaluable lessons that could literally change the quality of their lives forever. When I speak, I am absolutely committed to make sure that audiences are crystal clear about how to transform their classrooms, departments, or organizations. Whether I’m in Houston or Hong Kong, Kansas City or Cairo, Los Angeles or London, I carry the torchlight of hope into the recesses of dormant potential, and show the gems that are sparkling there.” Manuel Scott is changing lives all over the globe.
